Dr. Alvi is a Rock Star! If you need prostate surgery done in the
Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa area, Dr. Alvi is the urologist to see.
I had urine retention and went to my Veterans Hospital ER,
and had a Foley catheter inserted, After a month of pain, the VA urologist finally got a UDS test scheduled, the tech botched it. The urologist then did a cystoscopy, and his recommendation was to either live with a Foley catheter, and come in and change it out every 5 weeks. Or to insert a self catheter 4 times a day. I didn’t like either choice.
I got online and did research the best urologists in Phoenix. Dr. Alvi came up on all of them with very high ratings. I made a consultation appointment
with Dr. Alvi, and brought in all my VA data and records.
He recommended 3 different options. We both thought the Greenlight Lazar would be best, and was scheduled for surgery at Banner.
The pre-op, post-op team, and anesthesiologist were all very great.
I did come out in recovery with a lot of pain, and needed to have painkillers, I was feeling better after 15 min. meds, and oxycodone
were called into Walgreens, and my wife picked those up on the way home.
When I left Banner Medical I had another Foley catheter inserted, and was scheduled to have it removed in 8 days. The oxy ran out after 3 days,
With my Foley to be removed in a few days time, I though I’d tough it out without any more meds, but the spasms were horrible. I went to Banner ER at 3am. The next day Dr. Alvi came in, and it was like the calvary had arrived. He prescribed pain meds, a bladder irrigation that flushes your
bladder with a sterile liquid, and had me scheduled to have the Foley taken out Mon. Morning. Monday came and the Foley was finally out. Leaving the lab and going down the hall I noticed awards, and plaques on the wall for Dr. Ali. I know I had made the right call.
After 13 days after the last Foley removed, I feel like I’m 90% better.
It my take months to get back to 100%, but to me Dr. Alvi changed my future for the better.

I set up a consultation for 10/24/23 at the Mesa office which got rescheduled to 10/27/23 which is when the Dr. would actually be at the office. I was then called a day before the appointment and told that it would be at the Scottsdale office. I told them i scheduled for the Mesa office and to cancel the Scottsdale appointment. I then received an email and text stating,
"You have an appointment with us today at 9:10 am."
We look forward to seeing you. Our office is located at:
1234 S Power Rd Suite 102
Mesa, AZ 85206"
So i drive to the office at the appointment time and try to check in. They have no record of me. I show the receptionist the email and she says, "Oh, your appointment is in Scottsdale, the Dr. will be back at Mesa in the afternoon. Can you come back around 4 pm?" I tell her I have work and she asks if I can take a lunch to come to the afternoon appointment. No. I can't.
Why would I be scheduled for an appointment at one office just for the Dr. to be at the other one? If even that can't be done correctly, I don't want to see how their practice runs. I'll be looking for another practice to suit my needs.

Dr. Woodruff is that rare combination in physicians: outstanding technically, with a compassionate listening ability. His surgical treatment of my bladder cancer, and subsequent follow-up has saved my life to be specific.

Dr. Alvi is GREAT and is very patient and understanding! I would give him 5 stars! The reason of 1 star is for his assistants! They are disorganized and DO NOT return calls! I was left a voicemail by Katie saying we have your results, please call us back. I called within an hour and NO ONE picked up. Left VM for front desk. I got a text from CVS stating meds ready for pick per Dr Alvi. Picked them up and put them away. Called Stephanie 3 times, left message to ask what is medication for and what results!?! NEVER returned call! Now one week later I was scheduled for a URO. Stephanie called me twice in February to reschedule, machine not working. Today went there for scheduled appt. the girl up front went back and told her I was here. Told me Stephanie said it’s still not working and can you come back next Monday? And the results were you still have a UTI! Take the pills! She didn’t have the courtesy to come up front and talk to me. A week wasted and not taking the medication! Definitely NOT going back for URO!

Dr Alvi is always courteous and forthcoming. His knowledge is outstanding.

i had surgery august 23rd of 2020, i did not feel a things until after the surgery. if i had to do this procedure all over again i most definitely would do it again. i would recommend this procedure to everyone.
